and now here they are together ... it all started in 2006 when hell dropped in to meet ferry at his west london studio. at first they discussed hell remixing an old roxy music track, and then it turned into something else - something new (u can dance).
they had similar impressions of one another — hell: >i was impressed by his aura and his look.<, ferry: >he impressed us with his sophistication and charm.< fast forward a few years later, and hell is hard at work on teufelswerk and putting the finishing touches on the aforementioned song titled >u can dance<, a serpentine moroder-esque disco burner. with the help of old friend peter kruder, of kruder and dorfmeister fame, hell fashioned the song into a smoldering nine-minute highlight of the double disc set, in which ferry turns in a typically assured vocal performance.
ferry may seem like an unexpected fan of dance, but hes been going to clubs since he was a teenager, and in his lengthy career hes worked with legends such as nile rodgers of chic and david williams from michael jacksons band. >its always a pleasure to work with people from that genre, who follow a singular groove.<

timeless dancefloor fire gets a timely seasonal release on this exclusive double 12 inch pack. its the first compilation of artists from the desolat family - and its a manifesto of sorts, showcasing the different facets of the desolat sound. these artists, in their own ways, unpack multiple meanings of house & techno to create unique tangents. munichs tini steps out with her debut release: a staggered, raw dance track representative of her electrifying, wired-up dj sets. its the first solo outing on desolat for studio guru martin buttrich: his sensitive manipulation of delicate sonic quicksand underpinned with an insistent beat. argentine muso guti drops his second release on desolat, contributing chipped down spatial melodies following his first 2x12inch on the label, las cosas que no se tocan. loco dice brings his hip hop roots via heavyweight bassline and disembodied groove to truly shake up the house and overturn expectations. shimmering swing is the thing for romanian duo livio & roby featuring george g as premiesku, enunciating their very own definition of dance. lastly, desolats african-italian man yaya develops his sound further - displaying his musical upbringing with a punchy effusive get-up-and-dance vibe. its a fine way to end the year - six glimmering tracks wrapped up on desolats very special 10th release!

emptyset is a bristol based production project formed by james ginzburg, aka ginz, boss of the multiverse network of labels and paul purgas a longstanding electronic dj/collector and curator of this years we can elude control compilation. their collective agenda has been exploring techno music’s diverse influences and compiling them to a studio template focused on tight production and detailed sound design. inspired by the city’s culture of bass lead production as well as the global resurgence of electronic music, the sound has been described as techno meets dubstep folded back onto techno again, a description which is perhaps the most insightful to date. the project owes credit to the classic releases of m-plant, sahko and chain reaction as well as more recent producers such as alva noto, deathprod and burial. emptyset acts as a research project connecting the ideas of a modern dancefloor with experimental approaches to music and its design.

ac records first release. the new label is a division of acidlab (normally known for its analogue hardware clones) with a focus on promoting dark, electronic music by unknown artists. a1 - >viva olive< is a dark psychoacoustic acid track by hteah via portland, oregon. his time at present is spent building his soundsystem and helping manifest semi autonomous festivals. a2 - > tip-tilt< is a spacy acid groover by glum-c. b1+b2 are hard dancefloor tracks by db24 (steve romani) from lyon. steve is a studio rat with a lot of music output. the record comes in olive-coloured marbled vinyl and is limited to 150 records.

the groovers sound is the result of a lot of late nights, forged and crafted with utter devotion to creating a unique sound. all our influences were bought into the studio and from the tension between a love and knowledge of various musical styles and modes, of temperament and personality we found that it clicked. the result of this collaboration between finn campbell-notman and steve ferrand is ten track collection of songs from slow to mid to house tempos. each time we worked on a track or song we asked ourselves >is this a groovers track< and the only criteria in deciding if it was was >does it feel like one or not< this feel that we were searching for is: that bittersweet, syncopated and soulful one that we both love regardless of genre. our influences range from deep deep dancefloor house, early downtempo, latin soul, boogie, southern funk, and shimmering techno
